Program Overview

The Painting and Drawing concentration is a rigorous program that will immerse you in the traditions of painting and drawing. You’ll learn the materials and techniques of painting including oil, acrylic, and mixed media, along with technological tools to help bring your vision to life. You’ll study the masters—both old and new—in a comprehensive program that teaches a broad approach to these disciplines. As a graduate, you’ll have a professional portfolio and be prepared to pursue graduate studies or a career working as an artist. Other potential career options include an educator, museum or gallery assistant, curator, or professional artist.

Why AU?

You’ll benefit from small class sizes, which provide opportunities for direct mentorship from our Art + Design faculty members. Special topic classes in traditional methods and new technologies will give you a unique learning experience as you progress through the program. As a Painting and Drawing major, you can attend and participate in numerous exhibitions hosted on Anderson University’s campus each semester. You’ll also have the chance to participate in study abroad trips that are centered around the history of art and design.

Anderson University has a rolling admission process (students are notified when the are accepted whenever that is during the year) but students are encouraged to apply by the following dates: December 1st for the best scholarship consideration and no later than July 1st to begin in the fall semester.
