Dr. Carol Karnes — Dean and Professor of Management

As the Dean of the College of Business, I encourage you to be engaged in the activities of the College. You can join the Business Club and hear local business speakers, visit local plant facilities, and participate in social activities. All traditional business students must complete an internship before graduation. Students are encouraged to plan early for this activity. One of the goals of participating in an internship is to allow the student to learn about a specific job, organization, or industry.

The College of Business offers the Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Business with concentrations in Accounting, Computer Information Systems, Finance/Economics, Human Resource Management, and Management. This degree is part of our traditional program offered during the day. We also offer the Bachelor of Business Administration degree as part of the evening ACCEL program. For both programs, we would like all students to be able to:

· Demonstrate a basic understanding of the core concepts in business, including accounting, economics, management, quantitative business analysis, finance, marketing, legal/social environment, and international issues.

· Demonstrate the ability to apply these core business concepts.

· Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge in word processing, spreadsheets, business related databases, electronic mail, the Windows environment, presentation graphics, and computers as a tool in business.

· Demonstrate the ability to recognize Biblical principles as they relate to business issues, analyze ethical problems from a Christian perspective, and defend resolutions for practical situations that occur in all areas of business.

Our goal is to prepare you for the business world you will face. We strive to make the College of Business a place to better prepare our students to be effective Christian businessmen and women.
